British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course Level 1
The next Foundation Course will be run from February to November 2019. The course will be run by Kim Pierpoint.
The Foundation Course provides an excellent opportunity for students to delve deeper into the practice of yoga and will cover many aspects of yoga that are not, ordinarily, covered in weekly classes. The course is suitable for students who would like to further their understanding of yoga practices from a personal development point of view and it is also an essential pre-requistite for those wishing to embark on yoga teacher training.
Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years regular yoga experience with a reputable teacher before starting the course. You will be required to ask your teacher to complete a class confirmation form as part of the application process.
You are required to be an up to date BWY member in order to take this course which currently costs £37.
The course involves 60 contact hours and will comprise of 10 full days. Meetings will be held on one Saturday per month on the following dates in 2019:
- February 9th
- March 9th
- April 13th
- June 1st
- July 6th
- August 3rd
- September 14th
- October 12th
- November 23rd
Each day will run from 10.00am – 5.30pm and 80% attendance is required for the Foundation Course 1 Certificate
The course will include:
- Traditional texts
- Philosophy and history of yoga
- Breathing techniques
- Asana analysis

The total investment for this course is £660
- BWY Course registration fee £60 (covers administration and certification costs)
- Non-Refundable Deposit £100
- Course fees £500
The balance of fees of £500 will be due on either on or before the first day of the course.
At this stage you will also be required to send £60 which we will pass on to the British Wheel of Yoga to cover your course registration fee. Therefore the final balancing payment will be £560.
Terms of payment
Please note that the deposit for the course is not refundable under any circumstances. Once the balance of fees has been paid this is also non-refundable unless your place is filled by another applicant.
