BWYQ Level 4 Certificate in Yoga Teaching (QCF) – 300 hours
The next Yoga Teacher Training course will commence on 10th March 2018 with a compulsory introductory day on 20th January. This 300 hour BWYQ Level 4 Certificate in Yoga Teaching (QCF) course will be led by Debby Wilkinson who is an experienced BWY teacher trainer and a founder member of the South West Yoga Academy.
Debby will be joined by 3 guest tutors:
Catherine Annis who also teaches on the Triyoga Teacher Training course in London.
David Wilkinson who also teaches Anatomy, Physiology and Kinesiology on Yoga teacher training courses throughout the UK.
Bill Wood who teaches on many Yoga weekends and in service training events throughout the UK.

The Certificate course will take place over a period of approximately 18 months commencing on 10th March 2018. There will be 15 study weekends (non-residential) over that period followed by a single graduation day. A typical day will be from 10.00am to 5.30pm and will include a mixture of tutor led theory and practical sessions combined with small group work, role-play and student led teaching.
You are required to be an up to date BWY member in order to take this course which currently costs £34.
Students will explore a practical and theoretical syllabus that covers: anatomy and physiology (including common medical conditions); applied anatomy and physiology and the teaching of asana; yoga breathing practices and relaxation; planning for teaching and the responsibilities of a yoga teacher; observation, adjustment and protection of vulnerable areas of the body. A foundational knowledge of the history and philosophy of yoga are taught on the Certificate Course. These areas, along with developing subtle teaching skills, pranayama, meditation and more complex asana are taught in more depth on the Diploma Course.
Students who complete the Certificate Course will have the opportunity, should they so wish, to complete the final three Units of study and upgrade their qualification to the Diploma and graduates of this Certificate course will have priority for places on a follow-on course leading to the full BWY Diploma.

The course has a rigorous assessment process and from early in the course students are required to teach peer group practices to develop their skill and confidence. Students are encouraged to begin teaching their own classes by the end of the first year to support their studies with practical experience.
They will be insured to teach as a BWY Student Teacher.The course also requires extensive home study and research and the completion of written assignments.
To be accepted onto the Certificate course students will have practiced yoga for over two years and priority will be given to those who have completed the BWY Foundation Course.
