This class is open to all students who have at least one year of experience in yoga but it is not suitable for beginners. Most classes will start with a section of somatic based floorwork to encourage a deep release of holding patterns and to promote the ‘felt sense’. This then moves into more traditional asana. Students are encouraged to notice how they are, to discover more natural and easeful ways of moving and to move freely in the practice of yoga without using strain or force. Postures unfold rather than being forced or imposed. This is a class of meditation in movement.
The use of breath is paramount, and students will be guided to use breath in posture work as well as in seated Pranayama/breathing practices.
The term ‘intermediate’ does not suggest that the class is physically harder or that we do more challenging postures. It indicates an ability to work with asana and pranayama in a deeper and more mindful way.
The Tuesday class is a face to face class in the studio with simultaneous streaming online through Zoom. The Friday classes are in-person studio classes.
