How well do you know your body?
3 weekend Fundamentals of Anatomy, Physiology and Kinesiology Course for Yoga
Learning how our body works is incredibly interesting, it allows us to move and live in a more aware and mindful way and makes us far better yoga practitioners and teachers. Come and explore the wonderful body that you inhabit.
We start with the very basics – ‘What is a bone?’ and then travel through many of our body systems towards the current research in facsia and brain drainage.
We’ll look at:
Bones, joints, bony restrictions and vulnerable joints
Muscles, what they are, where they are, what they do
Anatomy of breathing including relationship with prānāyāma practices
Heart and circulation
Biomechanics and flexibility
Nervous system and stress
Endocrine system
Skin and fascia
Lymphatics and Glymphatics
There are a lot of practical group work sessions and you’ll not be simply sitting and listening. As far as possible we learn through doing. Each day ends with a yoga practice designed to highlight and embed what we have learned that day.
This course is designed specifically for yoga, and is delivered for a number of yoga teacher training courses across the UK as the A&P content of their programs. It is also brilliant as either CPD (50 hours) or just for your own interest in how you or your students really work under your skin.
